Have you ever been pushed around, picked on, teased at, treated unfairly and unkindly just because you were a bit "on the heavy side"? My name is Allen Au I am a 19 year old Chinese American male and I would like to share my story with you.

I wasn't the healthiest kid growing up. I was overweight and have had high blood pressure for most of my life. It wasn't until I hit 14 that I realized I needed a change. What made me realize that I needed to change was the fact that I used to get picked on and teased about my weight by everybody. Whether it was friends, classmates, or even family that teased me, I took it very personally every time they made fun of me for being fat even though I laughed it off and made it seem like I didn't care I cared. I was 212 lbs, 5'4", totally out of shape with high cholesterol and blood pressure. My family would call me by my nickname "fat boy". I got sick and tired of it and decided to get in shape. It was Christmas of '07.
