Philly Govt Declares This Weekend Meek Mill Weekend

In Philadelphia it is officially Meek Mill weekend starting tomorrow (March 15). The City Council passed a proclamation saying that March 15th through the 17th will be designated as Meek Mill Weekend to celebrate the Philly native's work in criminal justice reform and of course, music.

Why this weekend? Well Meek is going to be performing at the Met Friday and Saturday night.

It's not the only proclamation Meek is going to get. A Pennsylvania state senator is also going to give Meek a state-level proclamation.

As you might know, Meek was released from prison last April after a probation violation. Many didn't like that Meek was sentenced for that violation in the first place. He's been a big voice in criminal justice reform.

Meek was at City Hall to receive the proclamation in person and then gave a speech. Check it out.
