Guy Checks Himself Into Rehab for Netflix Addiction

We all love Netflix and it can totally be addicting, especially with that "auto-play countdown," that allows us to continue to binge The Office because we're too lazy to quit the after two episodes.

That's all well and good, but then there's this: a man in India checked himself into rehab after he spent seven hours a day on Netflix every day for a half-a-year. Crazy, right?!?

The Daily Mail reports The 26-year-old guy is unemployed (I wonder which came first, the Netflix addiction or the unemployment) and he wanted to shut-out reality by watching TV and movies. The addiction took a physical toll on him too, with eye strains, exhaustion, and weird sleeping patterns.

The rehab center in Bangalore usually helps patients with drug and alcohol problems but also helps those who are having issues with social media. The root, they say is the guy wanted to escape his everyday world and didn't have the self-control to stop a show. One of the doctors there said that their goal is to work on meditation and career counseling with the guy.

What's interesting to me is that he spent all that time on Netflix and still didn't see everything it has to offer. It seems like every week there's a new show that Netflix is adding and it can kinda be overwhelming.

I hope this guy gets the help he needs so that he's able to watch Netflix as part of his life, rather than his whole life.

What're your thoughts?
